Cheers to 25: Embracing Tech, Domain Flipping, and New Beginnings.

As I approach my 25th birthday, I can't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for what lies ahead. Just three days ago, I received an incredible early birthday present - the news that I've been offered a Remote DevOps engineer role with an exciting startup in the United States. Today, as I pen this blog post, I am filled with a deep sense of joy and gratitude. The path that lies ahead may hold uncertainties, but I embrace them with unwavering optimism and a thirst for growth.

Over the past five years, my journey has been a whirlwind of exploration and learning. I've delved into various ventures, each contributing to shaping the person I am today. From Flipping domain names to Trading Forex, Flipping NFTs to Technical writing and finally DevOps, I've experienced diverse industries, each with its unique challenges and rewards. These experiences taught me valuable lessons about resilience, adaptability, and the importance of staying curious in the face of new challenges.

Throughout my journey, I never lost sight of my passion for technology. While simultaneously holding it down in the medical field, I pursued my fascination with technology, honing my skills and knowledge in the ever-evolving tech landscape.

I recently concluded my one year mandatory Internship with Federal Medical center Ebute metta and I also just graduated with a Diploma certificate in Cloud Engineering with Alt-school Africa.

I recently quoted a tweet, bragging about having taught over 100 people and helping them generate a cumulative income of over $100,000 through domain flipping

However, upon reflection, I realized that the value goes way beyond that. The impact I've had on those I've taught is immeasurable. Many of them have gone on to teach others, creating a ripple effect of success that has touched countless lives.

Quite a number of people signified interest In my domain flipping classes from that tweet, To celebrate this new chapter in my life and in the spirit of giving back, I've decided to share my domain flipping course for free with the general public.

Before I do that, I'd like to take you through a detailed walk-through of my journey over the past five years. It has been a roller-coaster ride of exploration, experimentation, and discovery. From my initial forays into domain flipping to my eventual immersion in the world of technology, every step has been a learning experience that shaped my path.

This one isn't one of those "you go explain tire because evidence no dey" because evidence choke.

A little backstory

The year was 2018, few weeks to my 20th birthday. Like most University students, I found myself regularly searching for ways to make money online, hoping to supplement my income and explore exciting opportunities.

It was during this time that I stumbled upon a valuable thread on Nairaland, a popular Nigerian online forum. This thread centered around flipping domain names, and it became my virtual classroom for mastering the art of domain flipping. I pored over every post, soaking in insights from experienced domain flippers, learning from their successes and challenges.

In little to no time i took a leap of faith and started flipping domains.

Sold a couple within the months that followed, obviously not without the initial struggles. Along the line, i also taught some of my immediate friends around me back then.

2020 - A Turning Point

All this while, i was just flipping domains on a low key with some of my from my friends, then covid happened and we are all forced to stay at home.

Word began to spread quietly within my network that I had one magical update. i saw an opportunity and i decided to host a virtual class

This birthed Uthman Domain Class 1.0

Domain Class 1.0 took place over three consecutive days. Utilizing Telegram, I created a virtual classroom that allowed us to connect despite the physical distance between us. The class sessions ran from 7 to 10 pm each night, providing an opportunity for everyone to participate comfortably.

Domain class 1.0 was a success as you would see from some of the reviews below

This is just a bit, as you will get to see the reviews yourself when you enter the telegram groups.

June 2020 - The Resounding Success of Domain Class 1.0 and the Birth of Domain Class 2.0

The impact of Domain Class 1.0 hosted in May 2020 surpassed all expectations. It was heartening to witness the massive success of my students, who began reaping the rewards of their newfound knowledge and skills in domain flipping. Just two weeks after the class, some of my students were already experiencing results, selling domains and making their mark in the domain market.

Soon enough, the clamor for another class grew louder. It was evident that the thirst for knowledge and the desire to explore the world of domain flipping were still soaring high. Inspired by the demand and the passion of the community, I decided to host Domain Class 2.0, just a month after the resounding success of the first class.

As seen above, I had over 100 subscribers just a month after the first one, a testament to the success of the first one

Towards the Last Quarter of 2020 - Exploring Tradera and the Rise of Team 7 Figures

As the last quarter of 2020 approached, my journey took an interesting turn when a friend introduced me to Tradera, a forex multilevel marketing scheme. Tradera offered an enticing opportunity to learn forex trading, receive signals, and earn while increasing one's rank by inviting others to the platform. Intrigued by the potential, I decided to join and delve into this new venture.

To work strategically, I teamed up with my very close friend, Swanky, and together, we formed a dynamic team called "Team 7 Figures." Our shared vision was to leverage our strengths, collaborate effectively, and achieve remarkable results within the Tradera community.

Creating a successful team required consistent effort and dedication. We hosted multiple team calls, ensuring that we provided guidance and support to our members while recruiting new individuals into the platform to further increase our ranking. The sense of camaraderie within Team 7 Figures fostered an environment of continuous growth and mutual empowerment.

With each passing month, our hard work and determination paid off, and I witnessed a steady rise in my ranking within Tradera. Starting as a founder with three people under me, I progressed through the ranks, becoming a Knight, Noble, and eventually reaching the position of Bishop, where I had 75 individuals in my team, resulting in a monthly income of $2,000.

As I dedicated my time and energy to Tradera, my focus shifted away from domain flipping temporarily. The Tradera earnings provided a consistent stream of income, with payments being made every Monday morning.

Reflecting on those times, I remember the sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that came from building a thriving team and helping others achieve their financial goals. Tradera became a part of my journey, offering an opportunity to diversify my income streams and embrace new challenges in the forex trading realm.

Here's one of my Monday pay slips from back then, reminding me of the progress and rewards of my efforts:

While my venture into Tradera initially seemed promising, I soon realized that like many multilevel marketing schemes, the emphasis was heavily placed on referrals and rankings rather than the actual forex trading itself. This raised concerns about the long-term sustainability of the platform.

As time went on, my apprehensions were proven right, and Tradera eventually crashed.

During this period, I also experienced a personal setback when I lost $1,000 in trading Nas100. At that point, i concluded is either i actually skill up in Forex or just leave it alone.

I choosed the later.

My friend Swanky never left FX since then, While I chose to explore other avenues, he persisted and honed his skills, eventually becoming a formidable trader and now he tutors people on Forex.

2021 - Navigating Medical School

As 2021 rolled in, I found myself in a pivotal stage of my life - the final year of medical school. This crucial phase demanded my utmost dedication and focus, leaving little room for hosting domain classes or pursuing other ventures.

However, my passion for technology and the digital world never waned. Amidst my demanding schedule, I found a way to leverage my interest by building a website. Using Thrive themes' custom landing page, I crafted a captivating website that served as a platform for the domain flipping course.

Investing in a quarterly subscription for Thrive themes demonstrated my commitment to creating a seamless online presence. I wanted to ensure that my website was not only visually appealing but also user-friendly, providing valuable content to visitors and engaging them in a meaningful way.

Did all the copywriting on the website myself, integrated it with Paystack

i stopped hosting classes and i just packaged my contents and i was charging $50(19,999) for it.

Towards the End of 2021 - Embracing the Tech World

As I reached the end of my journey in medical school, I knew that my path was about to take a new and exciting turn. It was time to venture into the world of technology, an industry brimming with innovation and endless possibilities. To be truly valuable in this rapidly evolving landscape, I understood the importance of acquiring an in-demand skill.

The tech buzz on Twitter caught my attention, and I couldn't help but feel the magnetic pull of this dynamic realm. Without hesitation, I took the plunge and enrolled in basic web development courses on W3Schools, a perfect starting point for my tech odyssey.

During this phase, I approached learning with a sense of curiosity and exploration. It was an open-ended journey, and I hadn't yet decided on a specific aspect of tech to specialize in. The casual nature of my learning allowed me to immerse myself in the fundamentals of web development without feeling pressured to commit to a predefined path.

2022 - The Year of Full-Fledged Tech Pursuits

In February, I completed my induction, signaling the beginning of a thrilling journey ahead. With a clear focus on building my expertise, I enrolled in a one-year diploma program in cloud engineering with Alt-school Africa. This program was the stepping stone that would equip me with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the fast-paced world of cloud computing.

Alt-School started March, and a month after I started my internship at Federal Medical Centre ebute metta.

Balancing my internship and my diploma program demanded commitment and dedication. But with unwavering focus and a hunger to learn, I embraced the challenge of managing both responsibilities simultaneously. Every day was an opportunity to grow, both professionally and personally.

Mid-2022: NFTs - The Roller Coaster Ride of Exploration and Learnings

Midway through 2022, the booming Solana Ecosystem introduced me to the captivating world of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens).

Okay bears just minted like weeks before i came in

boys were doing $20k, $10k and so on from a single mint

The allure of quick profits and the excitement surrounding this emerging trend beckoned me to jump in and seize the opportunity.

With my typical fervor and dedication to anything that piqued my interest, I delved into the world of NFTs with unbridled enthusiasm. But little did I know that this hustle would test my mental fortitude like never before.

Reading books on NFTs, participating in spaces, and grinding for hours on Discord to get whitelisted for projects became a daily grind. This process involved actively engaging in community discussions and hoping for the elusive chance to get whitelisted for a project's mint. The stress was overwhelming, and it took a toll on my mental health.

As I continued on this arduous journey, I realized the need for a support system. Building a network of friends on Twitter who shared my passion for NFTs, I created a group called "Earnfts." This group allowed us to collectively share information, access alpha opportunities early, and motivate each other through the challenging times.

However, I eventually concluded that grinding on Discord for whitelists wasn't a sustainable approach. The stress and sleepless nights weren't worth the eventual outcomes. So, I decided to change my strategy and began creating threads for some projects.

I created multiple threads for different projects

Here is one of the thread i created for Degen sweepers

This thread secured me a whitelist for the project, even though its ultimate performance was disappointing.

The fast-paced nature of the NFT space demanded constant attention, with profits directly linked to how quickly you could identify and participate in "Alphas" (promising projects). The relentless pursuit for profits had me glued to my phone, leading to mental and emotional exhaustion. and not just this, I had a medical Job i was doing that requires my Attention too.

One of my most significant opportunities was with "FTC." I participated in the project early on, but my greed and desire for massive gains led me to hold my NFTs instead of selling them at a more reasonable price. Sadly, the project eventually took a downward turn, and my NFTs lost their value.

My For the culture NFT currently lying valueless in my Meta mask wallet.

Amidst my NFT journey, I also took a course on Discord moderation and briefly moderated for one or two projects. Eventually, I stepped back and decided to take a break from the intense world of NFTs and concentrate back on my Tech.

As i write this blog post, i searched the group i created back then and here is me randomly motivating my guys. i legit thought NFT was going to give me that life-changing opportunity.

Let me share the post with y'all to motivate you to, as you can see the date also

This is the link to the tweet i shared in the screenshot above, i will be sharing it with y'all too because it truly is a nice read

End Of 2022- Post NFT, back to full Tech mode

Throughout 2022, my journey was meticulously documented, providing insights into my learning phase and experiences. From the highs to the challenges, I shared my progress and reflections, offering glimpses into the world of tech exploration.

I documented my learning in a 3 post series here, here and here, in that order. So I won’t be going into much details in this post.

Reading those posts now, I can see how my writing has improved over the months.

The Full Tech mode i was on also came with its struggles, I can't even remember the exact challenge i was facing when i tweeted this, it was from a point of pain.

But trust me never to fold,

2023 - The Year of Unyielding Determination in Tech Pursuits

As the calendar turned to 2023, my determination to excel in the tech world reached new heights. My primary goal for the year was to secure a full-time DevOps role, and I was ready to go all-in to make it happen. To achieve this, I devised a comprehensive plan to immerse myself further into the tech community.

My strategy was simple but powerful: upskill relentlessly, expand my network, and establish a strong online presence through technical writing and Twitter threads on DevOps. This multi-faceted approach would enable me to showcase my expertise and passion to potential employers.

I wholeheartedly embraced technical writing, crafting articles that delved into various aspects of DevOps. Balancing this endeavor alongside my medical internship and my program at Alt-School was no small feat, but I was determined to give it my all.

Around February 2023, a golden opportunity presented itself when I received a direct message from Sandrine, the program manager at Alt-School on Slack. She informed me about a hybrid cloud internship opportunity in Ikeja. This chance held immense significance for my tech career, and I spared no effort in trying to secure it.

Despite my busy schedule with the medical internship at FMC Ebute Metta and the Alt-School program, I explored every avenue to make the hybrid cloud internship a reality. I proposed the idea of working remotely for most of the time and visiting the office once a week. However, despite my best efforts, the opportunity didn't materialize, and I had to accept that some things were beyond my control.

Interestingly, I later discovered that I was among the first few people Alt-School had reached out to about the cloud internship opportunities. It was a testament to the impact of my technical writing and active engagement on the Slack channel, where I consistently shared links to my articles. My commitment to putting myself out there had not gone unnoticed.

While the cloud internship opportunity didn't work out, the experience reaffirmed my dedication to pursuing my dreams in the tech field. I continued honing my skills, engaging with the tech community, and seeking new opportunities to showcase my expertise.

March came and i was already on my 10th blog post.

Hack sultan started this hire alt school interns and pay them well revolution on twitter

I also took a placard to the street of FMC ebute metta to support the push

I also Attended my first ever Tech event March, it was a physical event hosted by Localhost for Devops Engineers/SRE.

Here i was beaming with Excitement about the event on twitter

April came, I finished my internship at Federal medical center, i was still really pained about the opportunity i missed earlier

Then my Third semester examinations result came out which i aced

A Roller Coaster of Job Applications and Embracing Mentorship

Throughout 2023, as I juggled technical writing, my medical internship, Alt-School program, and networking efforts, I made constant efforts to secure both Technical writing gigs and DevOps roles. However, the journey proved to be a challenging one, as I encountered numerous setbacks and rejections.

The responses ranged from "we are not hiring from your region" to requests for a more experienced candidate, often seeking someone with senior-level expertise. Despite facing these continuous setbacks, I refused to be deterred. Each rejection fueled my determination to become even better and continuously improve my skills.

Recognizing some of us dedication and performance during the program, we were given roles as mentors for upcoming cohorts by Alt-school Africa. Embracing this role with enthusiasm, I gladly accepted the chance to pay it forward and help others navigate their tech journey.

As a mentor at Alt-School Africa, I now have the opportunity to guide and support aspiring tech enthusiasts as they embark on their own paths of growth and learning. This role has allowed me to share my knowledge, experiences, and insights with others, providing them with valuable guidance and encouragement along their tech journeys.

A Journey of Triumph and New Beginnings

March marked the anticipated conclusion of my Alt-School program in Cloud Engineering, but destiny had other plans. A capstone project extended our time together, providing additional opportunities to learn and grow. Finally, in June, I proudly received my diploma in Cloud Engineering, a testament to my unwavering commitment and dedication to the tech world.

Just three days ago, as I approached my 25th birthday, destiny once again intervened with a serendipitous twist. A founder from a startup reached out to me with a thrilling opportunity. Through engaging conversations, I was offered a position as a DevOps Engineer/Program Manager with the startup, situated in the United States.

Today, my 25th birthday, marks not only a new milestone in my personal journey but also my very first day at the startup. The excitement is overwhelming, as I embark on this new chapter that combines my passion for DevOps with the opportunity to teach and guide newcomers entering the tech field.

This role is the culmination of years of hard work, relentless pursuit of knowledge, and resilience in the face of challenges. It represents the fulfillment of my dreams, and I am filled with immense gratitude for the journey that led me here.

As I step into my role as a DevOps Engineer/Program Manager, I embrace the responsibilities that come with it. It's an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the startup's growth and success, as well as to nurture the next generation of tech enthusiasts.

Today, on my 25th birthday, I type this with a heart brimming with joy, gratitude, and excitement. The tech world has offered me boundless opportunities, and I am eager to embrace this new adventure with open arms.
